Furness Youth Theatre Fiddler on the Roof

FYT has a strong commitment to supporting its young performers with the best available artistic and technical expertise.  The objective is to produce Youth Theatre shows to the same standards as adult theatre.

Star To Be Annie

Taking part in such productions gives young people the invaluable experience of working together as a mutually supportive and self-disciplined team. This is an experience which drama classes and workshops alone cannot provide, and is the reason why FYT enables all its members to progress to large scale theatre, should they wish to do so.

Membership is open to anyone aged 6 - 16 who has an interest in drama. No prior experience is necessary - most of the people who come to us are absolute beginners. All that’s needed is commitment and a positive attitude.

Furness Youth Theatre History

Furness Youth Theatre was set up in January 2001 to provide a wide range of theatrical activities for young people, including drama games and workshops, drama festival entries, confidence-building activities, charity performances, singing, movement, speech, improvisation, plays, musicals, set design and construction. There is great emphasis placed on achieving individual potential whilst recognising that successful theatre requires working as a co-ordinated team.

FYT's first  production (senior group)  was  To Death and Glory, a musical about the suffragette movement and the First World War, written by Alex Loveless and performed in April 2001 at Forum 28, Barrow-in-Furness.
