USER REQUIREMENTS SPECIFICATION FOR A NEW PERFORMING ARTS CENTRE IN BARROW-IN-FURNESS The Forum Theatre in Barrow-in-Furness is scheduled for demolition due the presence of mobilised asbestos and a range of structural problems.  The linked PDF User Requirement Specification (URS) has been produced in consultation with various categories of users of the old Forum, who are likely to be users of the new Barrow Performing Arts Centre.   As the document is a User Requirements Specification, it primarily specifies what facilities and functions are needed by the users, not how they are to be implemented.  Such aspects are to be described in technical documentation such as the Functional Specification as the project progresses. Hence in this document sound and lighting facilities are described in terms of functionality, not in terms of equipment to be installed. The URS calls for a Studio Theatre in addition to the main performance space.  This is to accommodate smaller scale dramatic and musical productions which would not be viable in the main theatre.   The old Forum did have a 140 seater room described as a Studio, but in fact it was little more than a lecture theatre, and had very poor facilities for dramatic or musical performances.
